TheThe Fly Theme’s Layout Setup
TheThe Fly themes are modular and give you the ability to create virtually any layout you may need. More then 20 widget areas are pre-designed in a way that can be easily activated and deactivated. Moreover, each widget area can be activated on any particular part or even page of your WordPress site. And all the widget areas were pre-designed to have No any HTML code for them until they are activated. You have the option to have a fixed website width or a fluid one, up to 6 columns layout, special Javascript powered areas like Alert one or Modal Window and Sliding Panels (the last are optionally created by using our TheThe Sliding Panels plugin).
Setting Up Main Parameters of Your Website Layout
To set up your WP site width and alignment please open the Layout folder of your theme’s admin panel and enter the width either in pixels or as a percentage, choose alignment and press the Update Settings button.
NOTE: Besides setting up the width for all your pages, you can choose to set up different width for special landing pages like salespage and squeeze page – this is not for all themes but ones that offer such pages.
Activating Widget Areas
There are two steps you need to do to activate a widget area with TheThe Fly themes:
- Activate widget area through the Layout folder of your theme’s admin panel. To do that, simple go to that page, check the checkbox next to area you want to activate and press the Update Settings button. Once, this is done, a new widget area will become visible on the WP Appearance\Widgets page.
- Put any widget into the appropriate widget area on the WP Appearance\Widgets page
To let you manage your widget appearance even better, we would recommend you to to install a plugin like Widget Context, Widget Logic – this will allow you to switch on/off your widgets and as such – widget areas on any particular page types and even pages! We at TheThe Fly did not include such an option as our themes’ default one just because we like the Widget Context plugin functionality, we use it for our own projects and did not want to invent another bicycle.
Trouble Shooting
If you can’t find a widget area on your website, then it is either NOT ACTIVATED or THERE ARE NO WIDGETS PLACED IN or A WIDGET IS PLACED BUT its Widget Logic DOES NOT ALLOW IT to appear on that particular page.
