Step by Step Instruction
First, log in to your WordPress admin panel.
To get started, click the Add New Post link.
Give your post a title.Inside the Formats box on the right, check the box next to the appropriate Post Format. Note that in order for your images to appear in the full-size gallery view, you’ll need to select either Image or Gallery here.
Next, select the Category to which your post belongs. Optionally, add some tags to the post by entering them here.
To start adding images, click the Add Media icon and use the standard WordPress Media uploader. Remember you can upload several photos at once, like we’re doing in this video. You can designate an image to be used for the thumbnail preview on any Category or Archive page, including your Home page. To do this, click Show next to an uploaded image, scroll down, and click on the Use as featured image link.
Your gallery has now been created. There’s no need to insert the images into the body of your post as long as you upload the images while you’re editing it, like we’ve done here. TheThe Photographer will automatically put them into the full-sized viewer.
Now click Publish and load or reload your home page in new window. Your newly-created post will be the first one from the left in the post bar.
Click the post thumbnail or title to open it.
Try hiding and showing the boxes, navigating the lower thumbnail strip, and using the nav buttons in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
To add written content to your post, switch back to the WordPress admin panel and resume editing your post, entering copy into the main body. You can use the built-in WordPress text editor or copy and paste it with or without HTML markup from your favorite text editor.
Once you’ve finished, click Publish again, then switch back to the front end of your home page and reload it. Your content will show up in the main content box for this post.
Before we finish, let’s cover an alternate way to add images to your post. You’ll use this if you want to upload some photos before you create the post itself. Assuming the images have already been uploaded, go to the Media Library page, select media you want to attach, and click the Attach link next to it. Search for and then choose the post you want to attach it to and click Select. As long as the post you’ve selected is marked with the Image or Gallery post format as we showed you before, it will show up in the full-sized gallery view. Any image inserted into the body of your post will appear with your text inside the content box on the post’s left hand side.
